Happily Ever After 1999
Ember: In July of last year, my newly formed condo association passed the by-laws which included the approval of dogs & cats. Right away I started my quest to find my Dal buddy. I grew up with Dalmatians, so to me, they are the only breed!
I decided not to go the "puppy" route and wanted to rescue one of the many homeless Dals. I noticed an ad in the local paper for Dal-Savers and called. After filling out the application and doing a home check, I checked the website for available Dals. Soon after, Pamela contacted me via e-mail to show me a Dal that she would be getting into rescue in a few days.
Once I saw her picture with that sweet face, I couldn't wait!! I contacted the shelter coordinator directly that Pamela was working with, and went that night to see her. I fell in love and took her home with me late that evening. She was sick with kennel cough, whipworms and was very thin!
After many months and lots of TLC, Ember now is a beautiful and happy girl. We are the best of friends and I take her everywhere with me. We go roller blading, on walks, to play frisbee in the park and to the dog park to romp with the other dogs. She is learning obedience and slowly catching on. She is doing very well now and looks great! She is the sweetest Dal I could ever have gotten, with the best temperament. She is just perfect!!

Cuddles (re-named Holly) : To Holly's Heroes!
Our beautiful female Dalmatian, Holly, was previously named Cuddles by her rescue heroes in Dal-Savers. We found out why very early on. She loves to cuddle and snuggle and climb on laps and in general be a love sponge. She is a wonderful girl. Our family is happy and grateful that your organization rescued her so we could have the pleasure of this special addition to our family. If you click on this photo you will see a photo of Holly, Hobo (her big buddy), my children, and my mother sitting on Hobo's couch, which he willingly shares with his new "girl." Holly and Hobo also share playtime in the backyard and fuzzy toys. Hobo has regained some of his youth in keeping up with the energetic Holly.
Thank you for all the important work that you do, so that we can enjoy life with our cuddly Holly.
Greetings from us all,
Lisa Tekmetarovic and family
Brady: The other Dalmatian is our 7 year old, Norm. Brady has been a wonderful puppy. A puppy, he still is, as he continues to chew and does need supervision. Brady and Norm have worked out their roles in the family, with Norm being top dog and Brady the playful puppy. We took Brady to training and he graduated 2 weeks early. The trainer, who is not a lover of Dalmatians, commented on what a great dog Brady is.
We love Brady and he quickly became part of our family.

Kandi: is doing fine. I think that she is slowly coming to the realization
that this is her home and I can see that her behavior is changing plus she has
calmed down a lot. She also is behaving a lot better with Fawn, watches
her, imitates her (although not always imitating her best behavior) and tries
to be with her, no longer snapping at her. They actually play together and
share their toys. She is also used to the routine, especially the morning
walks. One day she almost got away from me, I accidentally dropped her leash
and she started trotting down the alley but luckily Fawn was off her leash
and ran to get her. Fawnie started dancing around her, barking trying to get
her to play but Kandi didn't want to play and it seemed like she didn't want
Fawn pestering her that day so she turned around and trotted back to me just
to get away from Fawn, it was funny to watch even though I was having a heart
attack along with my neighbor who was with us. Thank God Fawn was there and
it all ended well.
Anyway, she's a real gem, we're glad we have her and Fawn's disposition has
improved too, she enjoys the company no longer having the severe separation
anxiety. So all's well that ends well. Our Kandi girl is adjusting and happy
and so are we. Thanks so much for her. God bless you and all the work you
do. Keep up the good work. If you need any help let me know.
Oh yeah, the day after Thanksgiving we took down Kandi's crate because she
hated it. So since then I've left her out when I left the house and she has
never destroyed anything. Her disposition changed for the much better when
she saw that it was gone and that we trusted her. Another milestone. So big
wet Kandi kisses to you and some from Fawnie too.
The pictures I sent to you of Kandi and Fawn with the antlers, well Kandi
was more receptive than Fawn taking the pictures. Go figure, Fawn did that
so may other times.
Take care. Sincerely,
Ruta
Dollie (re-named Cinder Blaze) : Cinder Blaze joined our family in October 1999. We renamed her, as we drove
home from her foster family's home. We had never heard the name before, and
were surprised that another firefighter family named their dal Cynder. In an
effort to keep all the members of our family happy with her name, we included
Blaze as her middle name. Now everyone's happy with her name, and her
personality, too. She is the most cuddly dog in the world! She loves
playing, but she also enjoys being hugged. Her big dal smile greets us when
we come in the door. She checks on all of us periodically during the night,
to make sure we're all safe and sound. Though she still has a lot of "puppy"
in her, as she will turn a year old this month, she has settled down
significantly the last few months. We're happy to have her, and we think
she's just as happy to have us!
The Grandt Family
Mak (re-named Tops) : is doing just fine. He has settled in nicely. He has become comfortable at his new home. I have a moderately busy street behind my house. Tops loves to look out the glass door, and watch traffic.
Christmas was an exciting time for Tops. He was the hit of the family get together, as the younger members of my family all took to him because he was a Dalmatian. He fully enjoyed playing with the children in the snow.
He has an allergy that has not been fully diagnosed and has just recently had a relapse and blown his coat. I've put him onto a vegetarian diet at the urging of our vet and he seems to be doing better.
Thanks again,
Chris Stompor
Cynder: When Cynder went to live with Melinda and her family, she suffered from
car sickness. With desensitizing, Cynder not only rides in a car, but in
Firetruck when ever she can. See, Cynder was adopted by a family of
firefighters. She has become so much a part of this wonderful family
that when Melinda gets married next year (congrats!!) and takes Cynder
along to her new home, Melinda's brother is now looking for a dal of
his own. Jason will soon be another DALSAVER when he adopts a homeless
dal. And we are very greatful to this family and their love of our
homeless furry companions.
