[ Abba 17k ]Abba: Hi everyone,

Abba here. Some of you might remember me from about 2 years ago. I came into Dal-Savers a malnourished, apparently abused boy. I went to my foster Mom in the Upper Peninsula and I decided I didn't want to leave, so she said okay. I used to be really scared of people when they put their hands over me, even to pet me. I would hit the deck every time. I was thinking someone was always going to hit me. Mom started to hug me every time that happened instead. My Grandma (don't tell her I call her that) says she can't believe how I have changed. She says I'm totally different - that my eyes have changed. My eyes don't show fear anymore.

Anyway, I was writing to tell you that I went to my first dog show yesterday! I was so excited, I actually got to go inside like my brother and sister! A judge actually watched me do obedience! Dog shows are so intriguing! There are squeaky toys, all these other dogs - some of these other breeds are pretty goofy looking, don't you think? My Mom told me it was a fun match and we had fun! I made Mom proud and the judge said I was a good worker and was very surprised to learn that I had been abused in my other life. I'm going to another fun match at the end of the month. I can't wait!

I just wanted to thank you for saving me and to let you know that I am now an obedience prospect! I'm a dog show dog! Yaaaaaaaa!

Abba

[ Spot & Golden Retriever 8k ]Lillie (re-named Spot): Spot has been with me since Sept. of 2000, and seems to be one happy camper in her new home. She has put new life into my 9 year old Golden Retriever and they are quickly becoming good buddies. We have been through beginners obedience class. On Graduation night, the final exercise was "recall, where we used various toys to prompt the dogs to come to us when called. It was our turn. I called Spotty and squeaked my toy. She promptly ran over to a Boxer, stole his toy, and then proudly came to me with her treasure. Needless to say, she brought laughter to the class. My friends say how lucky Spot is to have found such a good home, but I feel I am the LUCKY ONE to have found such a loving dog who has added so much joy to my life. Thank U Barbara and Dal Rescue. :)

[ Sugar & Colby 14k ]Colby: Dear Dal-Savers,
We adopted Colby from Eilene and Michael Rhode on Good Friday of this year. I was very skeptical of having a Dalmatian, but my husband was persistent. We brought Colby home and after a time of adjustment for all of us, he has become the most entertaining member of our family. He makes us laugh everyday. Here are a couple of pictures. Thanks to Eilene, Michael and your organization for saving Colby on the day he was to be euthanized. He now has a very good home and is extremely spoiled and loved.

[ Libbey(front) Chelsea(back) 15k ]Sprinkles (re-named Libbey): We are sending a small note to let you know how our adopted "Libbey" (Sprinkles) is doing. She is healthy, and growing like a weed. Libbey is full of energy and has a very happy disposition. She gets along very well with her adopted sister "Chelsea". They love to wrestle and play chase; with one always teasing the other. Libbey is smart and learning lots of tricks! She's already showed our older dog how to open our "treat" cupboard and help herself to the goodies! She's also doing great on her house-training. She has free run of the house and only occasionally has an accident. We can leave her home alone, un-crated, and return and find the house undisturbed. She loves our daily walks and does very well on the leash. We are very pleased with the way she has blended in with our family, and pleasantly surprised at how well she gets along with Chelsea. In the words of our vet, "She's a Keeper".
Sincerely,
Beverly and Allen Pfaff

[ Rebecca 12k ]Rebecca: Just to let you know, we are so very pleased with our Rebecca. I am so pleased to have her in our family. I think I've educated many people on the merits of Dalmatians. So many people had such negative attitudes about their behavior but because of Rebecca these people now know that all they've heard is simply not true. She has added such fun to our home. Thanks Dal-Savers!!

[ Freckles back and Maggie front 28k ]Freckles: Frecks is just wonderful. It has been so fun to watch Maggie and Frecks develop their friendship. Maggie, during the first week, would make approaches to Frecks to "wrestle". Frecks was cautious the first day or two, then made some attempts to join in, then Maggie would back off. They did this so skillfully and gradually, communicating that this is play, that now Frecks feels comfortable initiating, also. And, tho it is still short, they really are play wrestling more and more. We have had absolutely no problems with Frecks. We have left the 2 of them alone in the house for an hr. or so, but keep her "crated" in the kitchen when gone for longer periods of time. She hasn't chewed anything that she wasn't supposed to. She cuddles with us all, and she and Maggie kiss good morning first thing. What a sweetheart. She has met, very nicely, 2 of the other dogs in the neighborhood. We are simply amazed at how easily this has gone and keep waiting for some problems to appear. Maggie has, at times, seemed a little jealous about sharing us (but that is mind reading on our parts 'cause she hasn't actually "done" anything to suggest that....its more looks). On the other hand, Maggie has clearly loved and benefited from Freck's company.

[ Dallas (R) Marlie (L) 15k ]Marlie: Well, Marlie has been a welcome addition to our family. Her affectionate nature is been wonderful. Even though she was a little nervous at first, she has become a very happy, Very affectionate dog. She loves to cuddle and go for walks and rides in the car. She also loves ice cubes after a walk and Loves to go to the firehouse where I work. She has been there only a few times and already has everyone asking when she will be back. Hopefully, soon she will work with me on my 24 hour shifts just like her older dal sister, Dallas. Marlie likes to chew on Nylabones and play catch but above all, loves to sleep with us. I think I might have to buy a bigger bed, but for all of happiness our two dals bring us, that's a small price to pay.

[ Annie 29k ]Angel (re-named Annie) : Dear Dal-Savers
You rescued me one year ago this month, and so I want to write to tell you how happy I am with my life that you gave me. I'm living in a house with my Mom and it's my responsibility to guard it, which of course I take very seriously. I have three beds, and a room of my own, if I want to be alone. But more importantly, Mom is totally devoted to me. She pets me all the time, rubs my tummy, takes me to the park two times a day (once in the car), and feeds me food, cookies, and chewers. Lately, we've been going skiing together, which is wonderful.

I'm so glad to be alive, and I have you to thank for it. I know you will be busy saving more Dalmatians--you are wonderful people, and we appreciate your dedication more than words can experss!

Love, Annie (formerly Angel)

[ Madison 16k ]Madison: Hello Dal-Savers! I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to you, but Madison & I have moved to a home on Lilly Lake! She loves it & is doing well! I Know she was sent to me from heaven!! We are always together, when I'm not at work. She & I walk around the lake every night, rain, shine or otherwise! Madison is a "free roamer" all day. She has never made a mess or had an accident in the house. I take her out about 3 or 4 times in the a.m. before I leave, so she's all set! I don't know how I lived without her -- she is my baby! She is very protective of me too. I'll always be thankful to you (Dal-Savers) for taking care of these precious lives.

[ Max 18k ]Max: Here's a picture of Max (Santa's little helper). He's adjusting well to the family and gets along well with all the neighbors.
He's very lovable and playful. He loves chasing his frisbee in our backyard.

[ Chiquita 17k ]Chiquita: It's been six months now that we've adopted Chiquita and I feel she really has accepted our home as hers. She follows me from room to room and waits patiently for me to talk and pet her. Her behavior with our guests and other dogs we meet has greatly improved; however, she can still be intimidating to people. Usually, though, once she meets you and has smelled every inch of you, she will always greet you as an old friend. She is a wonderful addition to our family.

[ Gypsy 8k ]Gypsy: Just wanted to drop a note to let you know that Gypsy is doing great! She's made our home her own, especially the chairs and bed. She loves riding in the car and it's wonderful to meet her happy greeting after a day at work. Many thanks to you and everyone else who helped to make this very loving bond.

Most Sincerely

[ Sadie 17k ]Sadie: I just wanted to tell you that I am so very happy in my new home. I have met some nice two leggers, one is my grandma and the other is grandpaw. And my new neighbors too. Some of them are four leggers but some of them meow and I just want to chase those. I'm already the queen of the castle, or of Chase as my new Mom calls me. I fee like a very lucky girl, because you helped me when I needed it most and helped me find my new Mom. I have a soft cushy place to wait for my new Mom and when she gets home I give her lots of smiles (she really likes those) and nice wet kisses too. My new Mom has found my heart, yes the one inside as well as out. The vet was very gentle and said I am a very pretty and special girl. Better get back to play or she may come looking for me.
Wags and Licks,

Sadie

[ Murphy(L) Sneakers(R) 27k ]Snuggles (re-named Sneakers) & Murphy: They are really getting along well, and we are enjoying them tremendously!! They are bundles of energy and fun, and they don't let each other out of sight. They really enjoy chasing each other around the yard and house, and they also enjoy resting together. They share fairly well expect that Sneakers gets jealous when we pet Murphy, and she tries to push her body between us and him. We are working on showing both of them that we have plenty of love to go around!! They seem very content in our home, and I think we have fallen into somewhat of a daily routine.

Over all, we are simply delighted with both dogs; your program and people did a phenomenal job of presenting and summarizing the characteristics of each dog on your website and carefully placing them with the right family!!

Love, Debbie and Doug Young
